The Rye Boys Soccer team defeated Eastchester 3-1 on Thursday, September 18, scoring in the eighth minute and never looking back. The victory is a nice bounce back after a loss to Byram Hills, as the offense came back alive for the three-goal performance.

“We scored some really nice goals today, including Kasen Scarperi’s 8th minute strike that was hit with tremendous force and still found it’s way just inside the far post,” Head Coach Jared Small said after the victory. “Kasen put in a fantastic effort today, finishing with a goal and two assists. We also felt that Silas Kavanagh put in a really strong second half at center back, helping us limit the opponent to only a handful of scoring opportunities.”

Scarperi factored in on all three Rye goals, with the other two coming from Felix Wismer and Connor Dehmer. Those tallies gave the Garnets a 3-0 lead early in the second half, which they nursed successfully despite an incessant Eagles attack.

“Eastchester’s attack asked several questions of the Rye backline of Cole Furber, Christian Hofmann, and Nico Etinger,” Small continued. “They would have found a second goal… if not for a brave save from Garnets goalkeeper Will Alexander.”

After surviving the brief scare in the second half, Rye settled down and picked up their fifth win of the season. The team (5-1-1) have one more game before a full week off for the Jewish holidays – an 11:00am Saturday morning contest against Pelham. The game on 9/20/25 is on the road at Glover Field just south of Rye. Rewatch the Eastchester game here.
