In a game featuring two of the best teams in their respective leagues, the Rye Boys Soccer team drew the Harrison Huskies 3-3. Harrison entered the matchup after an 11-0 record in the summer league, but Rye’s offense kept pace with them to lead to the draw.

“We did a nice job with our attacking set pieces today, scoring three fantastic plays off two corner kicks and one free kick that was effectively from the corner,” Head Coach Jared Small told MyRye.com. “While there is significant room for improvement whenever you concede three goals, there is a lot to be pleased with from today’s performance.”

The Garnets’ goals came courtesy of Lex Cox (assisted by Peter Wilmot), Wilmot (assisted by Alec Dodge Terra and Kasen Scarperi), and Connor Dehmer (first career varsity goal, from Cox). Rye overcame 1-0 and 3-2 deficits throughout the game, with the tying goal coming in the 70th minute.

Small called the match a “solid result against a strong opponent in a great atmosphere on a rare Saturday morning.”

Rye (1-0-1) next plays on Monday, September 8, as they travel to Westlake. Game time is scheduled for 4:30pm on the road.
