Rye field hockey picked up their second big win of the 2025 season on Friday, September 5, taking down Ursuline 7-0. The Koalas managed to hang with the Garnets through three quarters at 3-0, but Rye broke it open in the fourth and pulled away to make the conclusion very comfortable.
“[We] had to stay patient and be creative on offense to score,” Head Coach Valerie Perkins told MyRye.com. “Beau Whaling was a workhorse to ignite our offense.”
For the second straight game, Whaling was an offensive star – the senior netted a hat trick and added one assist to lead all Garnets in points. Liv Prata banked her second consecutive multi-goal performance, while Issy Mann and Sienna Myers also scored. It was Prata from Whaling that opened the floodgates in the final quarter of play.
Chloe Holden made two stops to secure the clean sheet. Ursuline played two goalies who combined for 16 saves. The Garnets fired 23 shots compared to the Koala’s two.
Rye (2-0) has won both their first two league games convincingly, with a +15 goal differential already. They have little time to rest before hosting Byram Hills tomorrow, Saturday 9/6, at 12:30pm. Watch the replay of the recent victory here.
