The Rye Volleyball team picked up wins on both Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27, as they defeated Ossining 3-1 and Brewster 3-0. The Garnets showed no signs of rust after the Jewish holidays’ break, and have now won five straight non-tournament games.

Friday vs Ossining

The Garnets came away with a 25-20, 21-25, 25-6, 25-13 win in four sets. “I am so proud of the team effort the girls put into today’s win,” Head Coach Geri Jones told MyRye on Friday.

Olivia Lewis led the offense with 16 kills, followed closely by Phoebe Greto (13 kills, 2 blocks). As usual, the steady presences of Emma Lunstead (16 digs) and Amelie Modesto (34 assists) helped Rye control most points throughout the match.

Saturday vs Brewster

Earlier this morning, Rye got right back to work, sweeping Brewster 25-23, 25-21, 25-17. Rye seemed to settle in as the contest went along, winning each set by a larger margin.

The quick sweep prevented everyone from accumulating counting stats, but Greto still managed six kills and, more impressively, five blocks. Valeria Medina filled the box score with five kills and seven digs, while Lunstead racked up three service aces.

Rye improves to 7-1 on the season and have won five consecutive matches. They will look to keep the momentum going next on Tuesday, September 30 – a 4:30pm home matchup against Ardsley. Watch it here. Watch the win over Brewster here.
