The Rye Volleyball team participated in a 16-team tournament on Saturday, September 20, going undefeated in pool play and advancing to the semi-finals. The Garnets went 3-0 in their four-team division before beating Walter Panas in the quarterfinals, although their undefeated run ended in the semis at the hands of North Rockland.

The one-day tournament operated under very unique parameters: the pool play games were best-of-three games, with the first two sets going to 25 and the third to 15. The playoffs were just one set, so Rye won their only set against Panas in the quarters and lost their only set against North Rockland, 25-14.

In round robin play, the Garnets took down Haldane, Henry Hudson, and Putnam Valley. Rye libero Emma Lunstead was named to the weekend’s All-Tournament team, leading the Garnets’ defense throughout the day.

The tournament does not affect Rye’s record, which stays at 5-1. The Garnets return to normal best-of-five matchups on Friday, September 26, against Ossining. The road matchup is scheduled for 4:30pm.
