A 42 year old Rye man was arrested on Saturday on a domestic violence charge.
Rye Police Department officers arrested Michael P. O’Connell, age 42 of Rye, for Assault in the third degree, a Misdemeanor on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at approximately 6:20pm. On Saturday, Rye Police were dispatched for a report of a domestic dispute on Cottage Street in Rye (between Midland Avenue and Grace Church Street and near Home Depot). Upon their arrival officers spoke with the victim, identified as a 43 year old female from Rye. The victim reported that during an argument with her boyfriend, identified as Michael O’Connell, he struck her with a closed fist multiple times on various parts of her body.
O’Connell was placed under arrest and transported to Rye PD headquarters for processing. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. Michael O’Connell was arraigned in the Town of Rye Court and issued an Order of Protection ordering him to stay away from the victim. O’Connell is due back in Rye City Court on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at 9:00am to answer his charges.
