The Rye Football team put the double exclamation mark on the 2025 regular season on Saturday, October 25, as they crushed Harrison 49-28 in ‘The Game’. The big win pushes the Garnets to a perfect 8-0 record and marks the 23rd victory for Rye against their crosstown rivals since 2002 (23-3 in that span).

When we start the season we always set certain goals,” Head Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com. “By winning the league and beating Harrison, that’s two of the goals met.”

Rye scored first on a 19-yard receiving score by Sam Surak, and quickly added on when QB Carson Miller took a designed draw for another six points. Charlie Garnett closed the first half with two long rushing scores to give Rye a 28-7 lead at the break.

While Harrison tried their best to hang around, the Garnets’ offense proved too much – both at skill positions and in the trenches. Two more quarterback keepers led to touchdowns in the second half, one by Miller, and the other by Charlie Brady for 75 yards. They sandwiched a Henry Shoemaker touchdown catch. Rye found the end zone seven times, five on the ground, many thanks to their superior offensive line.

I’m very proud of the players and their perseverance, especially the offensive line,” Garr continued. “They’ve been getting better and better… A lot of credit has to go to [assistant coach] AJ Thompson.”

Rye closes the regular season 8-0 with a gaudy +205 point differential, good for an average win margin of more than 25 points per game. They have scored greater than 40 points in five consecutive victories and six times overall on the season. The playoffs await, where the Garnets will host games until they move to a neutral site, assuming they make it that far. Replay the win over Harrison here.
