The Rye Volleyball team saw their eight-game winning streak come to a close on Monday, October 6, as the Garnets fell to Somers 3-1. Rye won the first set 25-22, but lost the next three in order 20-25, 23-25, and 20-25 to suffer their first defeat since September 11 against Mamaroneck.
Somers was effective at limiting Rye’s offense, as no individual player reached double-digit kills. Valeria Medina came the closest with nine and 13 digs, followed by Phoebe Greto (eight, plus two blocks) and Lexi Kessner (eight, plus six digs). Amelie Modesto still facilitated well with 37 assists, 9.25 per set.
