The Rye Boys Soccer team closed out their 2025 regular season with a 2-1 victory against Keio Academy on Saturday, October 18. The Garnets end the year 12-1-3, including a 10-0-2 mark in their final twleve games of the regular season and are a daunting opponent for anyone heading into sectional playoffs as the top seed.
“Our players did a really nice job of adjusting to a strong, disciplined, and committed opponent,” Head Coach Jared Small told MyRye.com on Sunday after defeating Keio. “Our second half was one of our better halves of the season.”
Rye scored the first two goals of the contest, both in the second half. Connor Dehmer struck in the 48th minute, and Alex Rojas added a key insurance marker in the 67th minute after his shot glanced off the post and found the back of the cage. Although the Garnets ceded a goal in the 77th minute, they managed to hold on for a close win, their first against the Unicorns this year.
The Garnets will host an opponent in the Round of 16 to be determined on Friday, October 24, at 5:00pm at Nugent Stadium. They are the top seed in Section 1 for the second time in the last 42 years, and are in a prime position to make another deep run after their state title in 2024.
