The Rye Field Hockey team eliminated Nanuet with a 5-0 win on Tuesday, October 28, advancing to the sectional semifinals game. The #1 Garnets outshot the Golden Knights 25-4, according to Head Coach Valerie Perkins, in a game which they seemingly never had a chance to lose.
Both Beau Whaling and Issy Mann scored twice for Rye, and Thea Fairhurst added one as well to account for the goal scoring. Kendall Bahl, Robyn Wilmont, and Sienna Myers all contributed assists, while goalie Chloe Holden did her job, saving all four shots against and coming up with a few important clears.
#1 Rye will host #4 John Jay-Cross River in the sectional semifinals on Thursday, October 30. The contest’s exact start time has still not been determined, but it will likely be between 4-5pm at Nugent Stadium on Halloween Eve. Replay the win over Nanuet here.
