The Rye Volleyball team were eliminated from state title contention on Saturday, November 15, as they lost to South Side in four sets. The Garnets glided to a 25-13 win in set one, but lost the next three consecutively 22-25, 17-25, 27-29, as their season came to a close in the Regional finals.

The highlight of the night was the Rye defense, which was once again spearheaded by senior libero and September Athlete of the Month Emma Lunstead, who compiled 31 digs. She was flanked by Elena Lin (23 digs), Valeria Medina (13 digs), and Amelie Modesto (11 digs) as the Garnets set a season high with four different athletes with 10+ digs.

Modesto led the offense with 42 assists, 10.5 per set, three kills, and two aces to complete a full stat line. Phoebe Greto paced a balanced attack with 15 kills, also notching five blocks at the net. Despite the loss, many of the Garnets’ best players concluded their season with very respectable box score lines.

Rye (19-5, 5-1 postseason) concludes the season with a Regional finals appearance, Section 1 championship, and a solid showing at their only in-season tournament from September 20. They improved by five wins from 2024, highlighted by a midseason eight-game heater, and a close four-set victory over Eastchester on senior night. Overall, Head Coach Geri Jones and her squad have a lot to remember fondly from the 2025 campaign.
