Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Girls Swimming and Diving head coach Katie Konopka has named her MVP for the 2025 season: junior Kate Chesley.
“Kate had an amazing fall swim season,” Konopka told MyRye.com. “Kate finished the season strong placing 4th in the 100 backstroke, 31st in the 200 [Individual Medley], and 15th in the 200 free relay.”
Chesley easily led her team by qualifying for five events at the State championship, competing in three (those in which Konopka listed above). Her other top events throughout the season included the 50M free and 100M butterfly races.
The Rye High School product clinched victory at the 200 IM and 100 backstroke at the Conference championship meet, leading Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook to an impressive second place finish overall. At sectionals, the junior earned 11th and 2nd place in those two events, respectively.
Chesley was named to both the all-league and all-section team for her efforts in 2025. She helped her team to a 7-1 record in their new merged schools league as their top swimmer, and will have the opportunity to do so again in 2026 during her senior season.
