The Rye Volleyball team clinched a Section 1 Class A championship on Saturday, November 7, defeating Tappan Zee in four sets, 3-1. The Garnets have now defeated Brewster, Walter Panas, Ardsley, and the Zees in the postseason, their route to a 2025 sectional title.
Several Garnets had standout performances on Saturday morning, highlighted by Amelie Modesto’s double-double (38 assists, 17 digs). Phoebe Greto led with 17 kills, followed by solid efforts from Audre Campbell (9 kills, 6 blocks) and Valeria Medina (8 kills, 14 digs). All of Emma Lunstead (34), Margo Ehrenberg (16), and Elena Lin (16) comfortably reached double-digit dig totals as Rye’s defense led the way. Katie Hillis scored the winning point in the fourth set to clinch the championship.
Rye (18-4, 4-0 postseason) advances to the sub-Regional round, which begins on Tuesday, November 11. The time and opponent of the Garnets’ next match are still TBD.
