A 30 year old Rye Brook man has been arrested by Rye PD for a home invasion on Elizabeth Street where police say he entered the home and attacked a 61 year old resident, choking him.

On Sunday November 30, 2025 at 11:30pm, Rye PD received a report from a 61 year old Elizabeth Street resident. The citizen stated that he was asleep in his bed when he heard someone enter his residence. According to police, the citizen identified the individual as his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, though he was unable to recall the individual’s name. The citizen stated that upon hearing the individual enter, he got out of bed and walked toward the noise. He encountered the individual inside the residence, near the threshold of the living room.

The citizen stated that the individual proceeded to grab him by the neck with both hands and began choking him while repeatedly asking, “Where is she?” The citizen stated he was able to free himself from the perpetrator’s grip and the party left his residence on foot. The area was immediately canvassed yielding negative results.

The Rye PD Detective Division opened up an investigation and was able to identify the perpetrator as 30 year old Guillermo Martinez-Echeverria of Rye Brook. The victim was shown a photo array and positively identified Guillermo Martinez-Echeverria as the party that entered his home and attacked him. Martinez-Echeverria was arrested on Tuesday by Rye detectives at 1:00pm and charged with Burglary 3rd, a Class D Felony, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Harassment, a violation. An order of protection was issued at arraignment and Martinez-Echeverria was released on his own recognizance with a return court date of Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 9:00am.
