The Rye – Blind Brook Boys Varsity Swim and Dive team has the pieces in place to make a splash in their new conference in 2026. The team is coming off a 4-6 record in 2025, but has both a bigger and more experienced roster this season to try to get back above .500 against a brand new wave of competition (both puns intended).
“This season we are competing in a new conference with all the merged swim and dive teams,” Head Coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com in November. “This means we will be competing against some very competitive teams such as Fox Lane – John Jay Cross River and BBPWV.”
The senior and junior classes will be key for Konopka in her ninth season at the helm. Austen Frankel, Sami Jazbeh, and George Papaioannou (Blind Brook) and Henry von Homeyer (Rye) are the four senior veterans set to lead the Garnet Trojans. Although Konopka has not officially announced captains yet, the senior class as a whole is expected to lead the charge every single meet.
They will be joined by six juniors and nine newcoming underclassmen on the roster. “We have a large group of returning juniors that will be crucial to our success as a team,” Konopka said. “This is the largest team we have had since I have been coaching at Rye.”
The junior class includes Filip Glitterstam, Michael Hamlet, Finn Hansen, Hudson Marquis, Vlad Moscaliuc, and Wilson Redd.
Since the swim and dive season is one of the lightest in terms of quantity of games, each one matters that much more, for both team success and individual success. League action kicks off in early December, and is highlighted by a meet with New Rochelle-Bronxville during the season. “They are a competitive team and it is always a close meet,” Konopka said of the matchup. “Additionally, the team is looking forward to competing at the conference championship meet at the end of the season and trying to get as many sectional qualifying times as possible.”
Rye – Blind Brook is 0-1 to start the year with a non-league loss to Harrison on December 1.
