Athlete of the Month is a series where MyRye.com profiles the best athletes of each month throughout the academic year, as selected by Rye Athletics. Today, we look at senior Carson Miller of the Rye Football team, who earned Rye High School’s Athlete of the Month honors for December 2025.

It is rare for the athletics department to name four athletes of the month from one season. However, the Rye Football team’s march to an undefeated state championship changed the norm, and their star quarterback Carson Miller was the easy choice from the fall season. The Harvard lacrosse commit went a perfect 14-0, throwing for 3,545 yards and 38 touchdowns en route to a New York State Class A State Championship. Both those statistical numbers are not just Rye High School program records, but Section 1 records.

Miller also ran for 963 yards and punched in 12 touchdowns on the ground, showing his duel threat ability. He was especially vital in the run game when Charlie Garnett went down with injury late in the Garnets’ championship push.

In his last game as the starting quarterback on December 5, Miller tossed three touchdowns to his top target Henry Shoemaker, also running for one on 68 yards on the ground. He was named NYS Championship Game MVP.

The captain was also named the Section 1 Player of the Year and New York Offensive Player of the Year (Rivals). In terms of hardware, Miller cleaned up.

The younger brother of fellow state-champion AJ Miller, and son of Rye Football alum Steve Miller, Carson is committed to play lacrosse at Harvard as a member of their Class of 2030. He won’t be eligible to play football until his sophomore year, should he choose to try to walk on.

Miller joins Clare Nemsick (Girls Soccer, November 2025), Lex Cox (Boys Soccer, October 2025) and Emma Lunstead (Volleyball, September 2025) as winners of Rye’s Athlete of the Month honors this year.
