The Rye Basketball team celebrated senior night with a 50-39 home victory over Roosevelt on Saturday, February 7, extending their winning streak to four games. The Garnets set out to win out after a disappointing loss on January 30, with their eyes on two home playoff games in the sectional tournament, and their 11-point victory on Saturday is antoher step in that direction.

“The team has shown great character all season when facing adversity, which is a good sign heading into playoffs,” Head Coach Tommy Proudian told MyRye.com on Sunday. “It was a great week.”

In the final home game of the regular season, the Garnets celebrated Milo Shirakawa, Jackson Pineault, Sebastian Lewis, Carson Miller, Henry Shoemaker, and Eddie Kehoe before tip-off. Those six gentlemen make up Rye’s senior class.

Ben Hudson led Rye in scoring with 11 points, trailed by Carson Miller with ten and Henry Shoemaker with nine. Shoemaker failed to lead the Garnets in scoring for the first time since the loss to Woodlands at the end of January – the big shooter has averaged 15 points per game, 12 rebounds per game, and 3.5 blocks per game during the team’s four-game win streak.

“Henry was incredible all week,” Proudian told MyRye.com.

Proudian offered complimentary remarks up and down the lineup, recognizing the efforts of a well-oiled machine that is the entire team. The group will look to stay hot in their final three regular season games, all away from home. The first is scheduled fro 6:30pm at Clarkstown South on Monday, January 9. Watch it here.
