The Rye Boys Squash team suffered a crushing loss on Tuesday, February 3, falling 7-0 to Greenwich in their penultimate match of the season. The Garnets needed to win to have a chance at winning their second consecutive Fairwest League title, but could not come through against the top-ranked Cardinals.

“Unfortunately, the Garnets were unable to muster enough individual match wins to secure a team win against Greenwich,” Head Coach Quan Huynh told MyRye.com on Wednesday. “The Garnets will look to rebound tonight against Darien, their final match of the regular season.”

#1 player Charlie Rodilosso could not return from injury ahead of the match, which meant the shorthanded Garnets were heavy underdogs against the top-seeded opponent. His status for the regular season finale is also in question.

The last game for the Garnets (7-4) before nationals is tonight, February 4, against fellow Connectucit foe Darien. The match takes place at MSquash in South Norwalk. Nationals begin in Phildelphia the week of February 20 to close out the season.
