The Rye Boys Lacrosse team suffered their second consecutive non-league defeat on Wednesday, April 8, falling to Garden City 12-4. The Cougars entered the contest as the #1-ranked public school in the United States, and showed why with a gritty defensive effort to hold the Garnets to just four goals.
“We played a very talented team and we never gave up,” Head Coach Jeremy Guski told MyRye.com after the game. “I was proud of the effort the boys demonstrated. We will learn from this loss and it will help us get better.”
Carson Miller built upon his last six-goal outing with two more, providing an early offensive spark for Rye. Charlie Brady and Henry Gilroy each added one goal apiece. Garden City only led 3-2 after one quarter of play, but a quick run at the end of the half separated them for good.
