The Rye Boys Lacrosse team led their Saturday morning game against Marin Catholic for just 29.2 seconds of play. A go-ahead goal from Thomas Goldszer with that much time remaining in regulation broke a 9-9 tie and stood as the game-winner in a 10-9 victory over the visiting Marin Catholic.
“This was a total team effort,” Head Coach Jeremy Guski told MyRye.com. “Our boys showed so much grit and they fed off of one another. I was so proud of the team.”
Goldszer played an expanded role in the absence of Wilson Redd, taking all the face-offs and coming up with his late-game heroics. “The MVP for us was Thomas Goldszer,” Guski said postgame. “Thomas battled all day at the X and scored the winning goal.”
Henry Shoemaker, Carson Miller, and Will Niejadlik, and Henry Gilroy all scored twice in a very balanced attack. The quartet also combined for six assists, led by Shoemaker’s three, as all four made impressive plays with the ball in their cradles.
Rye (2-2) has their first marquee win under Guski, and will look to build off that momentum in their next contest on Thursday, April 16. The Garnets travel to John Jay for their first of three consecutive road contests. Replay the win over Marin Catholic here.
