The Rye Boys Lacrosse team went on the road and took down John Jay-Cross River on Thursday, April 16, winning by the final score of 10-7. The Garnets battled with the Wolves for all four tight quarters, but a strong push in the second half lifted them to an important early-season league victory.
“We got off to a slow start, and it was 5-4 at halftime,” Head Coach Jeremy Guski told MyRye.com. “We woke up and played a better second half.”
Henry Shoemaker and Henry Gilroy both scored three goals apiece to lead the attack, and Will Niejadlik complemented the shooters well with 1 goal and 2 assists. Wilson Redd, back in the lineup, won 18 faceoffs and only lost three. Sam Lamont made 10 saves in goal, matching John Jay’s excellent goalie as best he could.
Rye (3-2) can make it three wins in a row today, Saturday, as they travel to Ridgefield for a 6:00pm start.
