The Rye Girls Golf team bounced back with a victory on Monday, April 20, defeating Byram Hills 246-265. After falling to Scarsdale to close out last week, the Garnets improved their play against the Bobcats to turn what could have been a close contest into a 19-stroke win.

“Rye had a strong showing at Whippoorwill Country Club in Armonk,” Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “Leading the Garnets was medalist Leila Kurbusi with an impressive round of 41.”

Kurbusi’s 41 score marks her second match in the last three in which the sophomore has recorded that exact score and medalled, both in winning efforts for the Garnets. She was supported by Elle Ridley’s 46, Tori Hobbins’ 52, Sophia Echlov’s 55, spot starter Jessica Lafferty’s score of 55, and Iciar Garate and her 57.

The Garnets (5-2) host Edgemont in their next match later today, Tuesday 4/21, at Rye Golf Club.
