The Rye Softball team scored first but fell to Mahopac on Saturday, April 25, losing by the score of 16-5. The Garnets jumped in front 2-0, but a pair of 7-run innings from the Wolf Pac put the game away early.
“Tough game in the rain, but they all played hard and battled until the very end,” Head Coach Alex Tejera told MyRye.com after the contest.
A pair of Garnets recorded multiple hits at the plate – leadoff hitter Penelope Gilmore went 3-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Sophiah Collins scored a run in a 2-2 performance. The Garnets collected nine hits in five innings, but ceded 12. Mahopac also walked seven times as compared to zero free passes for Rye.
The Garnets (2-7) is back home for their next contest, as they look for revenge against Ursuline on Monday, April 27. Rye hosts the Koalas at 4:30pm for their first of four games next week.
