The Rye Boys Golf team clinched a Section 1 championship on Monday, May 18, shooting 394 as a team. The Garnets are on top of their section after a dominant year thanks to defeating Blind Brook by 14 strokes and Mamaroneck by 21 at Tamarack Country Club.
Beyond the team championship, individual golfers Derek Bisceglia, Graham Erickson, Ryker Kevorkian, Ryan Mascali, and Charlie Molloy all qualified for day two of the sectional tournament next Tuesday, May 26. Erickson tied for third overall among all golfers with a 73 in 18 holes. Molloy also finished under 80 with a 77, while the other three qualifiers all carded 83s or lower.
Rye finished the season with a 16-1 record, and are now officially both league and section championships. Their five individual qualifiers for day two of the sectional tournament will look to play well enough to earn an invitation to States.
