The Rye Boys Lacrosse team fell in a heavyweight battle on Saturday, May 9, losing to Mamaroneck 10-9 at Nugent Stadium. The Garnets watched as the Tigers jumped out to an early 6-2 lead and could not climb back despite coming close for their fifth loss of the 2026 season.

“We fought the entire game but couldn’t get it done,” Head Coach Jerermy Guski told MyRye.com. “Their goalie made a bunch of point blank saves.”

Despite deserving a better ouctome, Rye could only muster nine goals in the close upset loss. Will Niejadlik had four points, including a hat trick, while Henry Shoemaker, Carson Miller, and Henry Gilroy all added three points apiece.

“This was the two best teams in the section battling it out.,” Guski continued. “Many of the guys know from both teams know each other, so that adds another element to the game. We will learn from this mistake and get better as a result of it.”

Rye (9-5) is off until Friday, May 15, when they travel to Pearl River for a 5:30pm start. Replay the loss to the Tigers here.
