The Rye Softball team re-entered the win column in a big way on Friday, May 1, defeating Scardale 15-2. The Garnets are looking to get hot at the right time of the year, similar to how they did in 2025, and this big offensive outburst was a great step in that direction.
Georgina Gilmore tossed a complete inside the circle, ceding only two earned runs on six hits. She struck out seven to earn the win. Her sister Penelope led the offensive with two doubles in the first inning, including one of the bases-clearing variety in her second at-bat of the opening frame. Rye continued to score throughout the contest until they finally completed the run-rule win, their first of such variety on the road in 2026.
The Garnets (3-9) have a chance to string some wins together in their contest against Mamaroneck later today, May 2, at home against Mamaroneck. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm.
