
The Rye Softball team came up short in their first of three straight home games on Monday, May 11, falling to Eastchester 6-4. The Garnets took a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning, but the Eagles roared back to secure a come-from-behind victory on the road.
The Garnets trailed most of the game before Reese McGill laced a two-out single in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. The following frame, Ava Rollano drove in a run with a one-out single, putting Rye in front 4-3.
Georgina Gilmore pitched the first five innings and allowed only two earned runs. She also went 1-2 at the plate with a run, RBI, and walk. Kaia Kovray had the other RBI for the Garnets in a 1-3 day. Both teams pitched well through six innings of play.
Rye (5-12) has two more games remaining on their regular season schedule, both at home against Nyack and Clarkstown North. Their next contest against the Redhawks is at 4:30pm on Thursday, May 14.
