The Rye Softball team fell at home to Mamaroneck on Saturday, May 2, losing 8-7 as their comeback effort came up just short. The Garnets took an early 5-1 lead, but a big third inning from the Tigers put them in front for good, despite a late rally from Rye to cut the deficit to one.
Caroline Joyce scored three runs on two hits including a double in the first inning. Charlotte Dinger and Georgina Gilmore combined to go 5-8 with two RBIs as both recorded multiple timely hits. Reese McGill and Emma Stark each hat one base knock and combined for three walks. Overall, Rye’s offense created havoc all night and pressured the Mamaroneck defense, which made five errors.
The Garnets (3-10) head back on the road for their next contest against White Plains on Monday, May 4, at 4:30pm.
