The Rye Softball team fell in extra innings on Monday, May 18, losing 7-6 to Walter Panas. The Garnets tied the game in the seventh inning, but were unable to complete the comeback in their regular season finale.
Sophiah Collins brought home the tying run wirth two outs in the last inning, her second hit and RBI of the ballgame. Clara Meszkat and Charlotte Dinger also had multiple hits, although most of the lineup contributed one way or another at the plate with walks, quality at-bats, runs, and RBIs.
Rye concludes the year at 7-13, although they are certainly trending upward since the beginning of May. They have the sectional tournament to look forward to, where they will likely start on the road and have to win some games against favorites to make a run at a sectional title.
