The City of Rye Police Department added its newest officer on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Jade Fumarelli, age 31, was sworn in this morning at Rye City Hall by City Clerk Noga Ruttenberg. Fumarelli is the first Westchester Police Academy hire for the Rye Police Department since January 2019 – she will be in the next academy class. In recent years, the police has been hiring transfers from other departments, notably the Mount Vernon Police Department. The department is filling positions created by recent retirements including Sergeant Michael Larkin and Detective Lieutenant Michael Anfuso.

Fumarelli is a registered nurse. Most recently she worked at White Plains Hospital and Clean Market. She served as an intensive care nurse at White Plains Hospital in 2021 – 2022 and as an emergency department nurse in the Mount Sinai Health System in 2020 – 2021.

“I just want to congratulate you on your making it through the process,” said Rye Public Safety Commissioner Mike Kopy to the assembled family and department members. “We had to interview 70 people to get to you and the PD right now is only hiring the best of the best. It’s a credit to you and your background, your experience, your credentials. Certainly coming from this employment, being a nurse, working in nursing situations, that really rose you to the top and I want to congratulate you on that. This is a great job and I think that you are going to fit in here very, very well.”

“I just want to say thank you for this opportunity,” said Fumarelli. “I’m very excited for this new endeavor. I’m excited to be here.”

Fumarelli holds a BS, Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Pace University (2018) where she also played softball. She is a graduate of Valhalla High School. She lives in White Plains with her wife Anjelle Fumarelli.
