The City of Rye Fire Department responded to a propane tank fire at 94 Wappanocca Avenue in Indian Village Friday evening. Sources reported a grill fire on the deck in the rear of the home, with a possible extension into the home. The time out for the fire department was 18:35:36 on Friday, June 12, 2026.

“This had potential to be a significant fire,” Rye Public Safety Commissioner Mike Kopy told MyRye.com. “Fortunately the fire was reported quickly and the Rye Fire Department was able to respond quickly and knock the fire down before more extensive damage or injuries occurred.

Our mutual aid partners responded quickly but were not needed as the Rye firefighters were on location quickly and put the fire out with atwo inch hand line.”
