Lansing Hinrichs will run a new expanded division inside the City of Rye Police Department. A 12-year veteran at Rye PD, Hinrichs was promoted to the rank of lieutenant as part of the move.
The new Operational and Investigative Support Division includes the detective bureau, information technology and the records bureau. Hinrichs, along with Al Hein who runs the Patrol Division, are direct reports to Public Safety Commissioner Mike Kopy.
“Serving the City of Rye has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” said Hinrichs. “I am truly honored by this promotion and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this community and the members of the Rye Police Department.”
Lieutenant Hinrichs joined the department in January 2014. He has served in numerous assignments, including the Patrol Division, Traffic Unit, Marine Unit, and, most recently, as the Special Operations Supervisor. Prior to Rye PD, he served as a New York State certified paramedic at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt and New York Presbyterian Hospitals in New York City. He is a graduate of Boston University and a native of Armonk.
