A 31-year-old woman was arrested by the City of Rye Police Department in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, and charged with driving while intoxicated.

At approximately 2:23 a.m. Sunday, a Rye Police officer observed a vehicle traveling on the southbound off-ramp of Interstate 95 at Midland Avenue (by the The Courtyard by Marriott and the Rye – Port Chester border) in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

During the ensuing traffic stop, the operator, Ronee S. Cook, 31, of Norwalk, Connecticut, exhibited signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, after which Cook was taken into custody and transported to Rye Police Headquarters for processing. Following processing, Cook was safely released to a sober third party.

Cook was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (VTL § 1192[3]) and Driving While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.08% or More (VTL § 1192[2]), along with additional Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Cook is scheduled to appear in the City of Rye Court on August 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The City of Rye Police Department reminds the public that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
