The Rye Police Department has hired a new officer. Vincent Giacoio was sworn in as a Rye police in a recent Rye City Hall ceremony.
Giacoio joins the Rye Police Department as a lateral transfer after serving four years with the Mount Vernon Police Department. During his time in Mount Vernon, he served in several capacities, including as a Field Training Officer, a member of the Emergency Service Unit, and with the Department’s Task Force Unit.
Prior to and during his law enforcement career, Officer Giacoio worked in emergency medical services. He is ESU/SWAT certified. Giacoio holds a BA from SUNY Albany and is a resident of Yonkers.
Public service runs in Officer Giacoio’s family, with his mother, father, brother, and uncle all having dedicated themselves to serving their communities.
In a statement, Rye PD said “We are proud to welcome Officer Giacoio to the Rye Police Department and wish him a long, safe, and successful career serving the Rye community.”
