Rye Country Day School (RCDS) officials detailed their campus master plan and, more specifically, the plans around the development of the 9 acre property it purchased from the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA)Â in 2022 in a presentation to Rye City Council on Wednesday evening, September 23, 2026.
RCDS almost got caught up in the City of Rye’s current building moratorium. In the wake of this RCDS officials have been at city council a number of times pushing on communications around their campus development plan. Dr. Stacey Sotirhos, RCDS interim head of school, introduced a 17-minute video overview of the school’s plan that details the multi-year multi-phase development, not just on the thruway property but also on what will be undertaken on the current main campus.
Residents in the adjacent Rye Park neighborhood have been particularly concerned about the dual development, both at RCDS and just across the Port Chester line at Westchester Crossing, the multi-use development underway on the old United Hospital site.
