The Rye Girls Soccer team could not solve Pelham on Tuesday, September 22, as they finished in a 0-0 stalemate with their league rival. Despite being outplayed, the Pelicans’ defensive structure held firm to secure a result against the high-flying Garnets.
“Pelham played a very defensive style of soccer, often packing numbers behind the ball and making it difficult for Rye to find space in the final third,” head coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “Despite the defensive approach, Rye created several quality opportunities throughout the game but was unable to find the back of the net.”
Possession, shots, shots on goal, and passes completed all favored the Garnets despite the draw. Blake Sasse did her job in goal despite few difficult tests.
