The Rye Girls Tennis team suffered their first setback of the season on Thursday, September 17, as they fell to Scarsdale 6-1. The Garnets battled hard against a premiere opponent, but with some moving parts in the lineup, they saw their three-match winning streak come to a close.
Despite a seemingly lopsided score, the Garnets hung right with the Raiders on Thursday. Four of the seven matchups went to third set tiebreakers, in which Rye went just 1-3. Junior Reese McGill and senior Iciar Garate teamed up in doubles for the first time this season to secure the Rye win. They came back from losing the first set by a wide margin to win 1-6, 6-2, (10-8).
Rye (3-1) has another tough test in front of them on Wednesday, September 23, against Horace Greeley. First serve is set for 4:30pm at Rye Rec.
