
The Rye Police Department has arrested a local 24-year-old man related to a sexual abuse incident involving a juvenile at Rye Town Park.
Rye police officials said they arrested Manuel Lazala, 24, of Port Chester, New York, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, following a month-long investigation by its Detective Bureau. Lazala was charged with two counts of Penal Law section 260.10(1) Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of Penal Law section 130.55 Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree stemming from an incident in late July involving a juvenile at Rye Town Park.
Lazala was processed at Rye Police Department Headquarters, arraigned, and transported to the Westchester County Jail. He is scheduled to return to Rye City Court on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
In a statement on September 2, Rye Police said that due to the nature of the incident and to protect the privacy of the juvenile involved, no further information would be released released. Rye PD reminds you that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
