The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck Girls Swim and Dive team fell to John Jay Cross River-North Salem 83-101 on Friday, October 2, as they fell on senior night. The loss comes despite several key individual milestones.
“Prior to the start of the meet, the Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck Swim and Dive team celebrated our four seniors: Jessica Lafferty, Ronia Mohassel, Rory O’Byrne, and Katie Weidinger,” head coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com.
Lafferty and Mohassel joined Maddie Kennedy and Zoe Lopez in racing a personal best time in the 50M freestyle. Elena Rojas, Elena Lopez and Clare McGlynn also swam to PRs, with McGlynn winning the 200M individual medley and Lopez racing through the 100 backstroke. Rojas’ best time came in the 100 butterfly and she also placed second in the 500 free.
Charlotte Tait recorded a new PR in the 200 free, which was overshadowed by her victory in the 500 free, just in front of Rojas. Her time in that event earned her a spot in the sectional championship meet. Claire Biddle also qualified for sectionals in 1M diving.
RBBRN (1-2) returns to Hommocks to face SHEDI in their next meet on Friday, October 9, at 4:30pm.
