The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck Swim and Dive team snapped out of their brief losing skid on Friday, October 9, as they downed SHEDI 102-81. The RBBRN team put forth their highest-scoring effort of the season in the victory, which brought them back to .500 at 2-2.
“The meet started with Lucie Megret, Claire Biddle, and Maddie Kennedy had personal best dive scores,” head coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com.
Beyond great success in the diving event, the RBBRN swimmers excelled to lead to the huge win. Clare McGlynn won the 200M freestyle and placed second in the 100 free. Charlotte Tait won two events, the 200 individual medley and the 500 free. Kalani Lee also clinched first place in multiple events, winning the 100-meter butterfly and 100 breaststroke. Elena McGlynn won the 100 Backstroke, and Quinn Boyle won the 50 free, to cap off the top finishers for the team in their second win of the year.
Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck (2-2) has a very rare road meet at Hommocks pool in their next meet on Tuesday, October 13. The Garnets “travel” to Mamaroneck to face the Tigers, who will technically host RBBRN despite the meet being in Konopka and her team’s home pool. The first event begins at 4:30pm.
