The Rye Girls Soccer team claimed their seventh win in a row on Saturday, October 10, as they shut down Pleasantville in a 2-0 victory. Both teams entered the contest without a loss in the 2025 season, but it was the Garnets coming out on top to extend their unbeaten streak to 37 consecutive games since the 2024 campaign.
“The Garnets delivered an outstanding defensive performance, led by Julia Carballo’s commanding presence on the back line and Hannah Jachman’s strong play controlling the midfield,” head coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “Rye’s relentless pressure and hustle paid off as Harkin Brown scored twice, once in each half, by capitalizing on Pleasantville’s attempts to play the ball out of the back and stealing possession from the goalkeeper. Rye created several additional scoring opportunities, but the Pleasantville goalkeeper made some outstanding saves to keep the game close.”
Rye controlled the possession and momentum for a much greater portion of the game than their visiting opponents, and Brown’s two goals were a product of the incessant offensive pressure. On a night when Nugent Stadium was packed and young Rye Youth Soccer players joined the high school Garnets for player introductions and played on the field at halftime, Savage’s group came up large with another key victory.
Rye (11-0-2) will look to extend their hot streak against Ursuline on Tuesday, October 13. The contest either begins at 4:00pm at Nursery Field or 7:00pm at Nugent Stadium.
