The Rye Girls Tennis team picked up their fifth win of the season on Wednesday, September 30, as they topped Suffern 6-1. The Garnets needed a bounceback effort less than 24 hours after a loss to Scarsdale and came through on the road to get back in the win column.

“After a tough loss to Scarsdale yesterday it was nice to get a team win today,” head coach Tony Campbell told MyRye.com. “Junior Reese McGill and senior Iciar Garate, who had a brilliant win at first doubles yesterday, continued their excellent play today with two singles wins.”

Back in the singles format, Garate breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. McGill also eased past her opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. Rye won four of the five other matchups as well to earn the team 6-1 win. As the match wound down, sophomore Lovisa Glitterstam and senior Amaryn Farr finished their match as the sun set, a fitting end to a strong Garnet performance.

Rye (5-3) is right back in action today, October 1, for their third straight match this week. The Garnets travel to Horace Greeley for a 5:00pm start.
