68th Annual Rye Rec Halloween Window Painting Cancelled – Is Halloween Next?
The 68th annual Rye Recreation Halloween window painting has been cancelled, another sad result of the global pandemic. The window painting, like the annual Little League parade, is one of the enduring Rye traditions.
“Sadly, Coronavirus has claimed Halloween window painting,” said Rye Mayor Josh Cohn in an email to residents. “Rye Rec has tried its best to find a way with social distancing requirements to follow and fewer windows available (outdoor dining and other factors), but the event could not happen safely. Rec is trying to imagine one or more alternative events.”
“The CDC has issued its caution concerning trick or treating and we expect New York State may have its own say. Stay tuned,” said Cohn.
