The Varsity Field Hockey MVP for fall 2020 is captain Jacqueline Quirke. “Jacqueline Quirke was our senior captain this fall during this unusual and difficult season,” said Varsity Field Hockey Coach Kelly Vegliante. “She led the team and was a role model to all our players on both JV and Varsity.”
“She was a key offensive player who fought endlessly to bring the ball down the field often resulting in a scoring opportunity,” continued Vegliante. “She was not our leading scorer this season but played the important role of assisting in most of our goals/shots. She proved she was a team player who cared more about he team success than her own personal glory.”
Jacqueline helped lead the Rye Field hockey team this fall to their title of League champions finishing their season undefeated in their league with an 8-0 league record. Quirke spent numerous hours off the field encouraging her teammates who were struggling this fall, especially during the numerous shut downs. She kept their spirits and enthusiasms high, bringing the team together with the other captains resulting in team’s successful season.
Jackie received numerous honors this fall recognized by her league, section and state. She was awarded all league player, all section player and the prestigious all state award.
