Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving Drained by Suffern; Moves to 3-2-1 Season
The Rye – Rye Neck Winter Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving team lost a home meet Friday to Suffern 77 to 103. Rye now moves to a 3-2 and 1 season.
“Senior Geoffrey Lien dropped .25 seconds in the 50 freestyle, winning the event,” said Varsity Swimming & Diving Head Coach Kelly Johanson. “He also won the 100 free.”
In the 200 Free Relay, the Rye team consisting of Rupp, M. Capaldi, Redd, and O’Connor took home the win. The 400 Free Relay (Lien, O’Connor, Lavelle, Rupp) just out touched the opposing team by half a second for the win. Sophomore Will Rupp also took home a win Friday in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.06.
The team is using Harrison’s pool as its home pool this season and is swimming against other teams “virtually” to mitigate COVID risks. Teams swim in home pools and submit scores to determine results.
