Rye Girls Varsity Basketball MVP: Amanda Latkany

The Girls Varsity Basketball MVP for the winter 2021 season is senior Amanda Latkany.
“Amanda is an exceptional student-athlete who is headed to Brown University to continue her basketball career in the fall,” said Girls Varsity Basketball Margo Hackett. “She has been the quintessential piece of Rye Girls Basketball for four years now and was instrumental in helping Rye Girls Basketball with the Gold Ball her freshman year and the sectional title again this season.”
“Amanda is versatile and can play any position on the basketball court. She would play point guard, shooting guard, and post player all in one game for us this season. Amanda is a role-model because of her commitment to athletics, academics, and service. Her drive to succeed and the time she spends giving back to the community is worthy of commendation. She is full of positive energy and genuinely connects with everyone around her. Amanda is a deserving candidate for this MVP award because of her athletic talent in three sports, dedication to service, hard work in the classroom, and reputable character.”
Latkany 2021 season game averages were 20.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 4 steals. She achieved 2021 Southern Westchester Regional Champion, McDonald’s All-American nominee, 1,000 point scorer, Varsity Captain (2019-2021) and Lohud Super 7 Winner.
