Boys Varsity Football Leaves Sleepy Hollow Headless 35-7
Rye Boys Varsity Football left Sleepy Hollow headless on Saturday with a 35-7 win, moving the team’s season to 2-0.
“Caden Whaling had another outstanding offensive game helped by tremendous offensive line play,” said Rye Boys Varsity Football Coach Dino Garr. “We had a gratifying team effort today on offense and defense and another excellent performance by special teams.”
Continuing his view of the game, Garr said “Jack Bartlett and Ryan Surhoff led the defense allowing only seven points to opponent’s Sleep Hollow offense. Other defensive players who made great contributions today were Chris Pecora, Jack Griffiths and Jack Garnett. We’re glad to have Jack Griffiths back again after missing the opening game. Our secondary also did an outstanding job covering Sleepy Hollow receivers.”
Rye Girls Varsity Cheerleading also brought their best across I-287 today. “The Rye cheerleaders unveiled a new dance today at the game vs Sleepy Hollow,” said Rye Girls Varsity Cheerleading Coach Melissa Marsden. “Although we were missing a few girls due to spring break traveling, the girls rocked it! We are looking forward to performing at our first home game next Saturday night.”
