Varsity X-Country Goes to Big Red for Season Opener

Rye Boys and Girls Cross Country had its season opening meet at the Somers Big Red Invitational at Somers High School Saturday. The cumulative score for Rye was 103 earning fourth place versus 20 for Pearl River who took first place in the meet.

“Somers Big Red Invite is in the books!,” said Rye Boys and Girls Cross Country Coach Michael Szarkowicz. “The boys took 4th in their race with Christian Ellis leading the way with a top 5 overall finish. While the girls finished 5th with Jessica Bourne finishing first for Rye in 22nd place.”

The team heads to the Suffern Invitational at Bear Mountain State Park next Saturday.
