Drunk Driving Arrest on Boston Post Road & Cedar Street
Overnight Friday, the Rye PD responded to an accident on the Boston Post Road in the area of Cedar Street where a single pickup truck hit an electrical line pole, splitting it in half. The area of the accident is adjacent to the private Rye Country Day School.
The operator, a 46 year old Rye resident, was arrested and charged. Charges ranged from Felony Driving While Intoxicated, Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and Failure to have the court ordered Interlock Device installed in his vehicle, a Misdemeanor.
An alcohol interlock device measures blood alcohol content (BAC), and only allows the vehicle to start if the driver’s BAC is below the limit.
The driver was released with a May 24th Court appearance. The electrical line pole was replaced by Con Ed on Saturday afternoon. Rye FD and Port Chester PD also assisted at the scene.
Back in December, then new Public Safety Commissioner Mike Kopy told MyRye.com his three priorities were traffic enforcement, quality of life and substance abuse. This arrest seems like a match.
