The Rye Garnets travel to bait the Pelham Pelicans this Friday, October 28th @7:00pm – watch it live.

For the game preview, we turn to the Steve “The OG” Feeney:

RYE GARNETS @ PELHAM PELICANS  – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28 @ 7:00PM

LAST WEEK’S GAME – RYE @ LAKELAND HORNETS

It was important for Section One Play-off seeding purposes for the Garnets to slam the Hornets hive door tightly shut. You see the seeding tie breaker among Rye, Harrison and Clarkstown South was the number of points allowed in the first half of all games. Even though the Garnets pitched a first-half shutout against Lakeland, the Section One League B seeded teams for playoff purposes were determined to be Clarkstown South, Harrison, Rye and Brewster. Back on the field in Shrub Oak, Rye threw only once preferring the overland route as the Garnets closed out the first half with a 35-0 advantage. The second half saw more of the same with Garnet subs seeing valuable field time on both offense and defense with victory secured.

GARNETS FLY TO PELHAM FOR SECTION ONE CLASS A PLAYOFF ROUND

It is rare indeed for Rye to be playing a first-round Section One playoff game on the road – this Friday south on the Hutchinson River Parkway. It is even more unusual for the Garnets to be hosted by the higher-seeded PELHAM PELICANS. Oh the old-timers from the ‘50s to the ‘90s recall vividly a thirty-three year football rivalry stretching from ’52 to ’92 with the exception of ’94. A fellow SWIAC (Southern Westchester Interscholastic Athletic Conference) and CWL (Central Westchester League) charter member along with Harrison, Eastchester, Rye and Harrison, the Blue and White nest comfortably in third place of all Garnet antagonists with 51 games played and a scorecard at 44 wins, 5 losses and 2 ties for a Rye winning percentage of .898. But these shorebirds have not been much of a fishing success as Pelham has not been able to crack Rye’s oyster in the last twenty fishing expeditions involving thirty seven years of searching.

Oh the Pelicans plan to ruffle Rye’s feathers, but the Garnets have different ideas.

This week’s prediction:

Garnets Zap       Garnets Wrap        Garnets Slap

Pelicans Nap      Pelicans Rap          Pelicans Flap

Garnets Map     Garnets Clap         Garnets Smack

Pelicans Gap     Pelicans Crack       Pelicans C**p

Garnets Trap 27-7
